Anti Thuggery Committee Apprehends 15 For Armed Robbery, Phone Snatching, Others In Zamfara

The Zamfara anti thuggery committee has today paraded fourteen suspects, for armed robbery, phone snatching and othe heineous offences.

Parading the suspects to newsmen in Gusau,  the committee Commandant Bello Bakyasuwa said, the suspects have been apprehended in various places in Gusau for committing what they are accused of.

According to him, his committee will not relent it’s efforts by ensuring that any forms of thuggery, drugs abuse and other related criminality have been drastically reduced in the state.

He further diaclosed that, the anti thuggery committee under his supervision was  established by the state government under the executive order number two which gave the state executive governor mandate to tackle any forms of insecurity or other related issues that could cause unrest in the state.

He said this time around, they invited Ulama Consultative Council (UCC), to preach to the accused persons as another crime prevention technic.

According to Bakyasuwa, some of the suspects were re arrested, and wonder how some agencies that were handed over  the suspects for further investigation and possibly prosecution released them.

" Considering this ugly development, that is why we changed tactics and invited ulamas to contribute their own quota in guiding and conseilling the suspects" he added.

Also speaking, the special adviser ulama cosultative council (UCC) Malan Jamilu Muhammed told  the suspects that, Islam does not support any forms of thuggery, social vices or indiscipline among Muslims in the society, urging them to always fear God and note that the day will come where everyone will account for what he did.
